Please enjoy your fishing on the Tyne. Before you fish, ensure that you are familiar with the legal restrictions and permit conditions below.
Legal restrictions
See the overall conservation code for the River Tyne salmon and sea trout stocks on the Forth District Salmon Fishery Board web page. The code relating to salmon is statutory and it is a criminal offence to retain any salmon caught throughout the season.
Permit conditions
For sea trout, it is recommended that these are released, however a bag limit of one fish per day applies should anglers wish to retain a fish. All sea trout must be released after 26 August.
See the full conditions of fishing below. Breach of any of these conditions render the permit invalid and anglers may risk prosecution.
